Where do you go to find your inspiration?
In your home, at work or on a walk or perhaps at a place you never thought of.
Your inspiration lies in the unknown ... amidst the chaos and the discipline.
Abundance
As I was having a wonderful conversation with our fearless team member, a word stood out and echoed for me: abundance. Abundance in our thinking, abundance in mindset and abundance in everything we do or say or feel.
Here is the question that prompted this path of exploration:
How about an abundance mindset when it comes to money. Instead of saying, “I don’t have enough”, can we say: “I have more than enough to follow my dreams and aspirations.”
Is this for real? Who defines enough? I wasn’t sure, but a spark was ignited in embracing the thought. It felt good, definitely much better than always saying I can’t do this because I don’t have money. Perhaps it goes back to the single truth of all times - Time is our biggest wealth.
That is what I realized when I wrote about Tax and my debacle last week. That I felt helpless, limited and constraint. That even this mistake can spiral me down in my worries. That’s why I am hopeful with the word Abundance and welcome it with both arms. I want to feel like I matter and that what I do matter. And that I love what I do.
Cambridge University Botanic Garden is my recent inspiration - it amazes me everytime I walk into a botanical garden - all the plants, flowers and trees from around the world in harmony!
When you see something that you don’t expect, it can open a new lens and perspective. That is how I feel in any new place or street or park for that matter.
And each garden is unique and filled with similar paths of exploration.
Abundance mindset
What will it take for us to create the space for an abundance mindset?
Our thoughts and actions can be louder than words. Each time, we set out to work on a project, where do we start?
Are we excited about the opportunity to create magic or dreading the next meeting?
Hopefully the former is true. Because why would we want it to be any other way…
Write down what projects bring joy and what makes you feel miserable. What environments bring the creativity and growth where you thrive, not just survive?
And then go find more of these gems to make life worth living. Our inspiration is waiting for us at our doorstep. We just have to open our eyes and see.
Seek and we shall find
When creativity comes in sprinkles, create the space you need to feel the shift in perspective. Every moment counts.
As the saying goes, this too shall pass. Wait it out and see what happens. Whatever good or bad is happening - this shall pass.
The book Creative Act got me thinking. It is our way of being that brings the universe together. The moments that felt like magic, or some may call serendipity are moments when all the right ingredients are at the right time and right place to create alchemy. We make it happen.
The energy that we put into a project or our mundane day to day activities can make shift happen. I enjoy washing dishes now - it is therapeutic. It calms me down and is a way to thank the dishes for the beautiful and delicious meal. It never feels like work anymore. This is a shift in thinking - the abundance of knowing that every moment counts. That everything we do now is all that matters.
The outcomes and results are not ones we directly control - the environment, circumstances and context may look different from each of our vantage point. It can be great and wonderful or it can go sideways. We wouldn’t know until we are at that moment in time. So, why do we waste our creative energy in worrying about the future? When we could spread creative abundance everywhere in everything we do. Let’s explore this and see what we can manifest in career and life.
Cheers to creative abundance - a river or waterfall that is always flowing and seeking the best version of ourselves - our true authentic selves.
